SOLD - French Rococo Style Late 19th Century, Six-Light Crystal and Bronze Chandelier

SOLD - A French Rococo style, six-light chandelier with bronze armature and central glass column from the late 19th century. Typical of the rocaille taste developed under the reign of King Louis XV, this chandelier is all about curves, crystals and gold color. Starting at the top, the bronze canopy is adorned with acanthus leaves and gadrooned motifs. Following down the gilt metal rod, our eyes then discover a delicately etched glass column, from which various scrolls emanate. The elegant C-scroll arms start their journey with acanthus leaves, echoed from the canopy. The glass bobèches support the candle sleeves. Draping the chandelier beautifully, various faceted crystals create a visual dance in the lower section of the chandelier. With its timeless elegance and refined Rococo Silhouette, this French six-light chandelier, circa 1890 would be a wonderful addition to any living or dining room. The chandelier has been rewired for the US and is ready to be hung.
