A French Louis XV 18th century cherry vaisselier buffet from Limoges with hand-carved cornice, multiple open shelves and lower doors. Born in the west-central area of France during the 18th century, this cherry vaisselier features a charming scalloped cornice, accented with inverted toupie-shaped finials on both sides. The tall upper section, more narrow in depth than the lower part (it measures 6" D), is rhythmically adorned with multiple open shelves, designed to receive pewter objects or faience ware. The thin shelves are visually connected to one another through petite balusters, that lead the eye to the central opening, flanked with two smaller ones. The lower section is made of two doors, decorated with curvy molded panels, sitting below a single drawer. The doors open to reveal two inner shelves offering convenient storage opportunities. The vaisselier is raised on four short feet, the front ones being scrolled, connected to one another through a delicately scalloped skirt on three sides. The front skirt is carved with a delicate Rococo shell, flanked with foliage motifs.
