SOLD - French 1750s Louis XV Period Walnut Commode en Arbalète in the Manner of Hache

SOLD - A French Louis XV period walnut two-drawer 'commode en arbalète', in the manner of Hache with banded inlay from the mid-18th century. This French commode showcases a Silhouette reminiscent of the style of the Hache family, ébénistes from the Grenoble. The serpentine top sits above two crossbow-shaped drawers adorned with gilt bronze hardware and banded inlay of lighter wood. The escutcheons are placed in alignment with the exquisite shell-carved skirt that adorns the lower part of the commode, thus creating a perfect central accentuation. The side posts are delicately decorated with carved motifs while the sides are made of recessed panels. The ensemble is raised on four cabriole legs with scrolled feet, whose sinuous lines compliment the serpentine shape of the drawers perfectly. Placed anywhere in a home, this French walnut commode, circa 1750, will bring a touch of elegance to any room.
