SOLD - French Louis XV Period 1750s Petite Serpentine Walnut Two-Drawer Commode

A French Louis XV period petite walnut two-drawer commode 'en arbalète' from the mid 18th century. This French commode features a shaped plank top sitting above two serpentine hand-cut dovetailed drawers, adorned with exquisite hardware. Born in the middle of the reign of King Louis XV, the commode showcases with its sinuous lines a silhouette typical of the period. Each drawer is made of a combination of concave and convex lines and is marked in its center with an escutcheon, flanked with bail handles adorned with pageboy figures. The skirt is nicely scalloped on three sides. The ensemble is raised on cabriole legs resting on hoofed feet. With it lovely patina, small proportions and Louis XV lines, this French walnut commode circa 1750 will be a wonderful compliment to any bedroom, foyer, living room or hallway.
