SOLD - A French period Louis XV walnut armoire with bonnet shaped pediment, ribbon-tied medallion and carved skirt from the mid 18th century. Born in the middle of the reign of King Louis XV, this French armoire features a bonnet shaped pediment, surmounting an exquisite ribbon-tied floral medallion flanked with garlands and delicate foliage. Two conforming doors with recessed panels and fluted beam, reprise the oval motifs, oriented differently however. These doors open to reveal four shelves with hidden drawers. The beautifully carved skirt, responding perfectly to the cornice, is adorned with a central urn surrounded by foliage motifs. The ensemble is raised on two scrolled feet in the front, straight in the back. With its Louis XV lines and warm patina, this French 1740s walnut armoire will be a great addition to any bedroom, or living room.
