SOLD - French Brass and Marquetry Three-Tiered Étagère with Floral Motifs, circa 1870

SOLD - A French brass three-tiered étagère with marquetry décor from the second half of the 19th century. This French étagère features three circular shelves, each adorned with an exquisite marquetry décor. The upper and lower levels are decorated with delicate floral motifs while the middle shelf showcases musical instruments such as a lute and an oboe, symbolising the liberal arts. The ensemble is secured in an elegant brass armature, accented with unusual busts. The feet on which the étagère is raised are splayed and rest on trifid duck feet. The elegance of the lines, combined with the perfect contrast between the golden hue of the brass and warmth of the marquetry, will make this French 1870s étagère an excellent decorative accent for any living or dining room.
