A French Louis XV style walnut Duchesse Brisée with two bergères chairs and their ottoman from the late 19th century and new upholstery. This French chaise longue features three sections, made of two bergères of slightly different dimensions and an ottoman. Each piece has been reupholstered with a new cotton double welt upholstery. The bergères showcase the typical Louis XV silhouettes with their sinuous lines. The wraparound backs are adorned with carved crests while the arms are partially upholstered and gently pushed back, thus allowing the ladies of the court to sit more easily with their 'panier' dresses, in a manner typical of the Louis XV period. Each piece is raised on cabriole legs and decorated with a carved skirt. With their graceful presence and lovely patina, this French Duchesse Brisée, circa 1880 will be an elegant addition to any living room or bedroom.
