A Swedish Gustavian style painted wood buffet with three-quarter gallery, two drawers and two doors from the late 19th century. This Swedish buffet features a rectangular grey top surrounded with a three-quarter gallery, sitting above two drawers. Each drawer is decorated with a reeded horizontal diamond pattern, a motif echoed in a reverse position on the doors placed below. These double doors open to reveal an ample storage area. Contrasting with the convex effect of the reeded motifs, the side posts are fluted and highlighted with dark accents, thus increasing the impression of depth. The distressed paint is made of a light grey green color, reminding us of the Scandinavian taste for a lighter color palette. The skirt is discreetly carved on three sides. Placed anywhere in a home, from a foyer to a living room or a hallway, this Swedish Gustavian Style buffet from the 1890s will be a charming decorative accent.
