French 1730s Louis XV Walnut Three-Drawer Bombé Commode with Original Hardware - PENT

A French Louis XV period carved walnut three-drawer bombé commode with original hardware from the 1730s. This French bombé chest features a rectangular top with rounded edges over three delicately carved drawers that alternate concave and convex shapes, adorned with their original hardware. A central escutcheon is surrounded by an incised quatrefoil motif and is flanked with two Rococo handles each framed with a cartouche. The curved, swollen side posts are beautifully carved with Rocailles motifs, typical of the Louis XV era. The skirt is also skilfully carved in a slightly asymmetrical rococo manner. The ensemble is raised on scrolled feet in the front and straight in the back. Placed anywhere in a home, from a living room to a bedroom, this French three-drawer commode from the first half of the 18th century will bring a charming elegance to any décor.
