A set of eight Swedish Rococo Revival painted dining room chairs from the mid 19th century with newly upholstered seats. This set of Scandinavian dining chairs features six sides and two armchairs. Each chair comprises a pierced back, adorned with a carved splat in the center and topped with an exquisite shell on the crest. This motif is echoed in a reverse manner on the seat rail. The nicely scalloped skirt is raised on four legs, the two in the front being cabriole, in a manner highly reminiscent of the Louis XV era, while the back ones are simply straight. The chairs are painted in a dark color, which perfectly balances the lightness of the upholstered seats. With its lovely Rococo lines and great patina, this set of eight Swedish chairs circa 1860 will compliment any dining room beautifully.
