Born in England during the 19th century, this English slope lap desk features a linear rosewood structure, beautifully adorned with intricate brass motifs on the top and front. Engraved with the name "Dickinson" on the top, the box opens to reveal a slope desk, fitted with black leather decorated with a gilt trim. Each section lifts up to reveal a hidden compartment, ideal to store papers and documents, the writing area concealing a label for H. Spencer, manufacturer in London as well as hidden drawers. It features its original lock, key and stationary. Perfect to be placed on the lap to write a letter, this 19th century English box will also be a great decorative accent to compliment any desk, chest-of-drawers or side table.
