ON HOLD French Louis XV 1750s Provençal Walnut Two-Door Buffet with Scrolled Motifs - LNG

ON HOLD A French mid 18th century Louis XV period Provençal walnut buffet with its original hardware. This French buffet was born in the Southern region of Provence in the 1750s. This piece features a slightly raised rectangular top with rounded edges over an exquisitely carved top rail. This rail is adorned with cartouche-shaped motifs that are scrolled on the end, flanking a central medallion. These delicate scrolls are repeated numerous times on the façade, from the two doors to the scalloped skirt, thus creating a complete sense of harmony. The doors open to reveal inner shelves offering great storage opportunities. The buffet is raised on short scrolled feet. As a visual conclusion to the ensemble, a marquetry inlaid star, alternating darker and lighter wood, marks the center of the lower rail. With its lovely patina, curved Louis XV lines and delicate carved décor, this French walnut buffet circa 1750 will be a great addition to any home, perhaps placed in a living or dining room.
