SOLD - A Swedish painted wood Neoclassical style sofa from the late 19th century with original paint, carved crest and new upholstery. This Swedish painted sofa features a slightly slanted back, adorned with a delicate foliage motif on the crest, flanked with two short pyramidal finials on each side. Two partially upholstered open armrests with scrolled knuckles and carved acanthus leaves frame the rectangular seat. The seat and the back have been newly upholstered with a sturdy double welt cotton fabric. The sofa is raised on four tall fluted legs with arrow feet, accented with fluted blocks on the front knees. The refinement and subtly of the carved décor, combined with the original painted finish, typical of the Scandinavian taste for light colors, will make this Swedish Neoclassical style sofa circa 1880 and excellent choice for any living room, bedroom or foyer.
