SOLD - A pair of Swedish painted wood three-drawer breakfront bedside commodes with original hardware from the late 19th century. Each of this pair of Swedish commodes features a shaped top surmounting three crossbow-shaped dovetailed drawers. The protruding front is marked with oval escutcheons while the recessed sides are adorned with round ring pulls. The maker kept the carved décor to a minimum, limiting it to the short curved, fluted tapering feet upon which each commode is raised. The color palette is typical of the Scandinavian taste for lighter colors, used to brighten up the homes during the long, dark winters. The clean, linear profiles of these chests, combined with the soft color, make this pair of Swedish, 1880s bedside chests a perfect choice for any bedroom or living room.
