A Swedish Neoclassical painted wood five-drawer commode with swag décor from the early 19th century. This Swedish painted chest features a rectangular top sitting above a narrow frieze drawer followed by four larger dovetailed ones. If it weren't for its escutcheon, the upper drawer would be quite hidden from our sight, carved as it is with swags running along the three sides. The side posts are discreetly adorned with semi-columns while the skirt showcases interlacing motifs, beautifully answering to the swags in the upper section. Raised on four short tapered feet, this Swedish chest of drawers circa 1820, with its subtle color palette and elegant silhouette, would be an excellent choice for any bedroom, living room or hallway.
