SOLD - French 1750s Grey Painted Wood Three-Drawer Commode with Original Hardware

A French painted wood three-drawer commode from the mid-18th century, with scalloped skirt, original lock, key and hardware. Born during the reign of King Louis XV in France, this painted commode features a rectangular planked top with rounded corners in the front, sitting above three drawers. Each drawer is adorned with two recessed panels that receive the original handles and are separated by a central shield-shaped escutcheon. The sides are adorned with molded panels with delicate low-relief geometrical motifs. The commode is raised on four short feet, the front ones being slightly scrolled while the back ones are straight. They are connected to one another through a nicely scalloped skirt. Painted in a soft grey color, this French three-drawer commode circa 1750 will bring a touch of elegance to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or hallway.
