SOLD - French Walnut Louis XV Style Armoire Façade with Carved Panels, circa 1850

This French Louis XV style walnut armoire façade from the mid-19th century features double pegged doors with harmoniously carved panels, topped with a cornice and delicate floral-shaped ornaments, and flanked with fluted side posts. The rectangular recessed panels in the center are the anchor around which the other more curvy panels evolve. The outline of the two recessed panels of the lower section bring to mind the hint of the Italian Renaissance, particularly with the Ghiberti and Brunelleschi panels executed for the competition of the Florence baptistery. The scalloped skirt, adorned in its center with a fan motif, is raised on two scrolled feet. Highly decorative, this French Louis XV style walnut armoire façade, circa 1850 would look wonderful used as a closet door or perhaps placed as a doorway. It would bring a refined elegance to any project of this type.
