SOLD - French Mid 17th Century Cherry Sofa Table with Single Plank Top and Two Drawers

A French cherry sofa table with two drawers and side stretcher from the mid 17th century. Born in the early years of King Louis XIV's reign, this French sofa table features a rectangular single plank top sitting above two drawers with wavy "S" patterns and wooden pulls. The table is raised on four straight legs connected to one another with a plain side stretcher. This is the perfect size for most sofa table applications, and would instantly add old world European charm to any room. With a circa date of 1650, it has wonderful natural age and it was most likely refinished a few decades ago. It has been waxed throughout the years and retains a rich and very aged authentic look. Most parts of the hardware look original, including the curved diamond shaped escutcheons. The wavy "S" patterns that outline the drawers indicate this piece may have originated near the coastal areas of France. With its simple silhouette, unusual motifs and nice patina, this French sofa table circa 1650 will be an excellent choice for any décor.
