A French large-scale butcher's table with carved back, mounted steer heads and double knife slats from the late 19th century. This exquisite French butcher block features a nicely carved tall back, adorned in its central section with an iron shell, flanked with delicate volutes. These volutes create the perfect framework to accentuate the two distinguished mounted iron animal heads that finish up the decor of this upper section. The butcher block with double knife slots is raised on a base, comprising two drawers with brass ring pulls and molded frames and an exquisitely carved apron running on the three sides. The ensemble is raised on fluted legs, whose knees are adorned with diamond motifs in the front. Placed anywhere in a home, particularly - but not limited to - a kitchen, this large-scale French 1880s butcher's table will bring a touch of authenticity to any home. The height of the working area is 34 inches.
