SOLD - Pair of 18th Century French Baroque Style Carved and Painted Solomonic Columns

A pair of French Baroque style hand carved, painted and parcel-gilt Solomonic columns from the 18th century, with vine motifs and Ionic capitals. Born in France during the Age of Enlightenment, each of this pair of Solomonic barley twist columns features a hand carved Ionic capital, supported by a delicately curving base. Brought back to Rome in the 4th century, Solomonic columns have inspired many artists, from Bernini to Rubens during the Baroque period. Adorned with vines following the s-scroll motifs, our columns are painted and parcel-gilt. Highly decorative, this pair of French Baroque style Solomonic columns will bring a touch of elegance and tradition to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or foyer.
