SOLD - Set of Ten Swedish Gustavian Style Dining Chairs with Oval Backs, circa 1900

A set of ten Swedish Gustavian style painted wood dining chairs from the early 20th century, with oval pierced backs, fluted legs, cross stretchers and new upholstery. Each of this set of ten Swedish dining room chairs features an oval back with pierced splat, topped with a carved crest. The muslin upholstered seat rests on a simple skirt carved with wraparound rosettes on the knees. Each chair is raised on four elegant cylindrical fluted legs, connected to one another through a spindle-shaped cross stretcher. The chairs are painted in a light color typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the long, dark winters of Sweden. With their elegant silhouettes and discreet décor, this set of ten Swedish dining room side chairs circa 1900 will bring a graceful touch to any dining room, perhaps placed around a Gustavian extension dining table.
