SOLD - Swedish Painted Neoclassical Style 1890s Extension Dining Table with Leaves

A Swedish neoclassical style painted wood oval dining room extension table from the late 19th century with three leaves, waterleaf motifs and cylindrical legs. This Swedish dining room table features an oval top comprising three leaves, sitting above an exquisite apron, carved with waterleaf motifs. This carving is present on the entire length of the apron without any interruption, thus creating a perfect visual continuity. The table is raised on four elegant cylindrical legs with fluted tops and arrow feet, while an additional tapered leg, attached to the underside of the table through a hook, strengthens the central section. Carved rosettes accentuate the knees. Once the leaves are removed, the dining table turns into a lovely round centre table. The piece is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the long, dark winters of Sweden. With its elegant lines and refined decor, this neoclassical style dining room table, circa 1890 will bring a graceful touch to any dining room.
