SOLD Swedish Gustavian Style Side Table from Småland with Reeded Drawer, circa 1880

SOLD A Swedish late 19th century Gustavian style painted side table from Småland with reeded drawer and tapered legs. Born in the Southern province of Småland, this Swedish painted side table features a rectangular top sitting above a single drawer with reeded motifs, opening thanks to a simple wooden pull. The table is raised on four elegant tapered legs, whose linearity is beautifully interrupted by the slightly concave movement of their knees. Each leg is delicately accented with discreet fluting on the sides. The table is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes of the Swedes during the long, dark winters. With its clean lines and subtle décor, this Southern Swedish Gustavian style side table, circa 1880, will bring a graceful understated presence to any home, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
