A Swedish Gustavian style early 20th century painted oval table from Växjö. Born in the southern town of Växjö in the Kronoberg County, this Swedish painted table features an oval top sitting above an elegant apron, delicately accented with beaded motifs on the lower molding and carved rosettes on the knees. The table is raised on four nicely tapered legs, each accented with discreet fluting on their side and a stepped carving in the upper section, placed just below the rosettes. The table is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes of the Swedes during the long, dark winters. The result is one of elegance and refinement. With its clean lines and lovely décor, this Swedish Gustavian style oval table, circa 1900 will bring a graceful presence to any foyer used as a center table, or kitchen area.
