SOLD - Swedish 1850s Gustavian Style Corner Cabinet with Glass Doors and Diamond Motifs

A Swedish Gustavian style painted corner cabinet from the mid-19th century with glass doors, pierced cornice and diamond motifs. This exquisite Swedish corner cabinet features a convex façade, adorned with a pierced cornice at the top, overhanging a dentil molding. This upper section comprises two doors with paneled glass, that open to reveal four inner shelves. The lower section, larger in dimensions, is made of two wooden doors, adorned with recessed diamond motifs. Each set of double doors is separated by a vertical fluted motif repeated on both levels, thus creating a visual continuity. The cabinet is raised on four short tapered fluted feet that give a perfect conclusion to the ensemble. This piece is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the dark, long winters of Sweden. With its convenient shape, elegant lines and refined décor, this Swedish Gustavian style corner cabinet circa 1850 will bring a graceful touch to any home, whether placed in a kitchen, living room or dining room.
