A Swedish Gustavian period blue painted three-drawer commode with fluted side posts and cylindrical feet from the early 19th century. This Scandinavian chest-of-drawers features a rectangular top with rounded corners in the front, sitting above three hand-cut dovetailed drawers. Each drawer is adorned with a thin molding, discreetly framing the handles and the central shield-shaped escutcheon. The rounded corners at the top give birth to fluted side posts of the same shape, thus creating a perfect visual unity on the façade. The ensemble is raised on four tall cylindrical feet, whose curvy lines are in perfect continuity of the treatment of the side posts. With its pure lines and beautifully weathered painted finish, this Swedish Gustavian three-drawer chest, circa 1800 will be a wonderful addition to any home, perhaps placed in a bedroom, living room or hallway.
