SOLD - French Louis XIII Style, 1840s Desk with Two Drawers and Barley Twist Base

SOLD - A French Louis XIII style wooden desk from the first half of the 19th century, with two drawers, barley twist legs and cross stretcher. This French writing table features a rectangular top with bevelled edges, sitting above an unusual apron. Two small drawers with iron handles flank a central opening, carved to provide more ease to the sitter. The sides of the apron are exquisitely carved with a design that is repeated on the back. The table is raised on four barley-twist legs accented with fluted motifs on the knees. The square block joints are connected to one another through a curving X-form stretcher that provides additional stability to the table. The ensemble rests on four elongated ball feet. With its lovely silhouette and its rich patina, this French Louis XIII style desk, circa 1840 will bring a refined touch to any home, particularly in an office.
