SOLD - French 1910s Terracotta Sculpted Group of Elephants Mounted on Marble Base

SOLD - A French terracotta sculpted group from the early 20th century, depicting an African elephant with her calf, mounted on marble base. Born in France at the end of the Belle-Époque era, this terracotta sculpted group features a touching scene: a mama elephant gently leads her calf by grabbing him by the trunk. The detailing of both their bodies is exquisite and the motherly attitude of the adult elephant is heartwarming. The sand patina contrasts beautifully with the dark color of the rectangular marble base on which the elephants are mounted. With its lovely proportions and tender rendition, this French terracotta sculpted group, circa 1910 will be a charming decorative accent in any home, whether placed atop a chest-of-drawers, side table or buffet.
