SOLD - French Louis XVI 1770s Walnut Console Table with Drawer and Serpentine Top

A French Louis XVI period walnut console table from the second half of the 18th century, with slightly serpentine front and sides, frieze drawer and fluted motifs. Born at the beginning of the reign of king Louis XVI, this walnut console table features a delicate serpentine top with molded edges sitting above an exquisite fluted apron, concealing a single dovetailed drawer in the front. The fluting, typical of the Neoclassical taste for calmer lines, creates a perfect visual accentuation of the ensemble. The sides are discreetly curved to echo the movement of the top. The table is raised on four fluted tapering legs. With its elegant Silhouette and lovely walnut patina, this French Louis XVI console table circa 1770 will bring a graceful presence to any home, whether placed in a living room, foyer or hallway.
