A French Louis XVI period painted wood three-drawer commode from the late 18th century with original bronze hardware and blue grey patina. Born in the later years of the 18th century, at a time when France was experiencing the last gasps of the Ancien Régime, this painted commode features a rectangular planked top, sitting above three dovetailed drawers, each fitted with its original bronze hardware made of two ornate ring pulls flanking a central oval escutcheon with Louis XVI knot and swag. The side panels are simply adorned with recessed panels while the commode is raised on four feet, tapered in the front and straight in the back. With its clean lines and soft blue grey patina, this Louis XVI commode circa 1780 will bring a touch of French elegance to any home, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
