SOLD - Swedish 1790s Gustavian Period Painted Wood Two-Part Cabinet with Diamond Motifs

A Swedish Gustavian period two-part tall painted wood cabinet from the late 18th century, with doors, drawers and diamond motifs. Born in Sweden at the end of the 18th century, this elegant cabinet features a molded cornice with reeded accents, sitting above a narrow upper cabinet made of two doors adorned with vertical diamond patterns. These doors open to reveal multiple inner shelves offering great storage opportunities. The lower section of the cabinet showcases three thin drawers with diamond patterns whose horizontal design subtly balances the verticality of the piece beautifully, and two doors opening to two inner shelves. The ensemble is raised on short tapering feet, angled in the front, in a manner typical of the Gustavian era. The cabinet is painted in a light color, emblematic of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the long winters of Sweden. With its tall proportions and clean lines, this Swedish Gustavian two-part cabinet circa 1790 will bring a touch of relaxed elegance to any home, particularly in a living room or dining room.
