SOLD - Pair of Swedish Gustavian Painted Chests with Dentil Molding and Marbleized Tops

A pair of Swedish Gustavian painted wood chests from the early 19th century, with marbleized tops, drawers and dentil molding. Born in Sweden at the end of the Gustavian period, each of this pair of chests features a rectangular faux-marble veined top, sitting above a delicate dentil molding. One of the commodes presents four drawers (two small ones above two larger ones), while the other showcases three larger ones. Each piece is raised on four tapered feet. The chests are painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes of Sweden during the long, dark winters. With its clean lines and classical décor typical of the Gustavian era, this pair of chests circa 1820 will bring a touch of relaxed elegance to any home, particularly in a bedroom or living room.
