SOLD - Swedish Gustavian Period Two-Part Painted Secretary with Glass Doors, circa 1790

SOLD - A Swedish Gustavian period two-part painted secretary from the late 18th century, with glass doors and slant-front desk. Born in Sweden in the last decade of the 18th century, this tall painted secretary features a molded cavetto cornice, overhanging the upper cabinet, made of glass doors accented with geometrical patterns. These doors open to reveal several inner shelves offering great storage opportunities. The lower section of the secretary presents a slant-front desk that will rest on wooden pulls when open and that conceals multiple inner drawers surrounding a central door, sitting above four graduated drawers. The ensemble, raised on bracket feet, is painted in a light blue grey color typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes of Sweden during the long winters. With its clean lines and tall proportions, this Swedish Gustavian period two-part secretary circa 1790 will be a great focal point in any home. Open, the piece is 33.75" deep and the desk's clearance is 31.75"H.
