SOLD - Pair of Swedish Gustavian Style 19th Century Light Blue Painted Wood Chests

SOLD - A pair of Swedish Gustavian style light blue painted wood chests from the 19th century, with faux marble tops, reeded accents and canted side posts. Born in Sweden during the 19th century, each of this exquisite pair of chests features a marbleized rectangular top with protruding corners in the front, sitting above a dentil molding and a delicate façade presenting three drawers, the top one adorned with reeded accents while the lower ones are adorned with discreet cartouche motifs. The canted sides are fluted and lead the eye to the short tapered legs, angled in the front. The ensemble, fitted with classical hardware, is painted in a soft blue color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the homes during the long winters of Sweden. With their elegant silhouettes and lovely painted finish, this pair of Gustavian style chests will be a great addition to any home, whether placed in a living room or bedroom perhaps used as bedside chests.
