SOLD - Pair of Swedish Gustavian Style 19th Century Painted Chests with Diamond Motifs

A pair of Swedish Gustavian style painted wood three-drawer chests from the 19th century, with elongated diamond motifs, dentil molding and fluted accents. Born in Sweden during the 19th century, each of this pair of chests features a rectangular top with protruding canted corners, sitting above a delicate dentil molding typical of the Gustavian era. Three drawers make up the façade, each of them adorned with an elongated horizontal diamond motif and fitted with classical brass hardware. The canted fluted side posts lead our eye to the tapered legs, angled in the front, and strengthened with curving spandrels. The chests are painted in a light color typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes aiming at brightening the homes during the long winters. With their classical lines and lovely finish, these Swedish 19th century Gustavian style three-drawer chests will bring a touch of elegance to any bedroom or living room.
