A pair of Swedish Gustavian style painted wood chests from the 20th century, with dentil molding, reeded accents and canted posts. Born in Sweden during the 20th century, each of this pair of painted chests features a rectangular top with canted protruding corners, sitting above a carved dentil molding and an exquisite façade presenting three drawers. The drawers are adorned with reeded motifs in their central section, visually connected to one another from one level to the next, while the canted side posts are adorned with floral motifs in their upper section and fluted accents in their lower part. Raised on short tapered feet angled in the front, the chests are painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the homes during the dark winters of Sweden. With their clean lines and lovely carved décor, these 20th century Swedish Gustavian style chests will bring a relaxed touch of elegance to any home, whether placed in a living room, or in a bedroom used as bedside tables.
