SOLD French Neoclassical Style 19th Century Bouillotte Game Table with Marquetry

SOLD A French neoclassical style Bouillotte table from the 19th century with marquetry decor, drawers, pull-outs and tapered legs. Born in France during the 19th century, this elegant Bouillotte table features an exquisite marquetry honeycomb top accented by a delicate two-toned banding. The apron is adorned with marquetry zigzag motifs standing out beautifully on a darker ground and presents two dovetailed drawers and two pull-out shelves. The term Bouillotte comes from the card game of the same name (a version of the poker) which became extremely popular in France during the late 18th century. The table is raised on four fluted tapering legs resting on petite brass feet. With its elegant neoclassical style lines and lovely marquetry décor, this 19th century French wooden Bouillotte game table will bring a classical presence to any home, perhaps placed in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
