This French Louis XV style walnut upholstered méridienne (French for daybed, also called chaise longue) from the 1830s features a scrolled-out headrest with a lower, also out scrolled, footrest. The gentle curve on the back responds beautifully to the arms, the sinuous scalloping of the seat rail and curvy lines of the short cabriole legs. The legs are adorned with delicate floral motifs on the knees. Upholstered in linen, this daybed features a comfortable seat cushion. A wonderful example of the lovely asymmetry typical of a méridienne, this daybed, circa 1830s would bring a lot of charm to any room, in any home.
