SOLD - Pair of French 1850s Upholstered Régence Style Armchairs with Cross Stretcher

SOLD - A pair of French Régence style wooden armchairs from the mid-19th century, with Saint-Andrew style cross stretchers, hoofed feet and new upholstery. We currently have two pairs available. Born in France in the early years of Emperor Napoleon III's reign, these armchairs showcase the stylistic traits of the Régence style that saw the transition between the Louis XIV and the Louis XV periods. Each armchair features a slightly slanted back, connected to two scrolling arms, carved with low-relief foliage on their knuckles. The seats and backs are covered with a sturdy double-welt cotton fabric, allowing the warmth of the wood to shine beautifully. Each armchair is adorned with a scalloped skirt, decorated with delicate foliage carvings, and is raised on four delicate cabriole legs with hoofed feet, connected to one another through an exquisite Saint Andrew X-form cross stretcher. With their nice proportions and lovely patina, these Régence inspired armchairs circa 1850 will bring a touch of French elegance to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or bedroom. Each pair is priced $7,950. Each seat is 20.75 inches deep. ONE AVAILABLE
