SOLD - 18th Century French Louis XVI Trumeau Mirror with Giltwood Musical Instruments

SOLD - A French Louis XVI period 18th century painted and gilt trumeau mirror with evocation of the arts and original glass. This French Louis XVI large trumeau mirror features a light grey painted linear frame, highlighted with giltwood accents. Our eye is immediately drawn to the upper panel, adorned with an exquisite evocation of the musical arts. Placed under the typical Louis XVI knot, giltwood musical instruments likely made of an oboe and a viola are partially hidden by a music score. Note how this score must have been studied as its left page is curled. The pilasters flanking the sides are adorned with floral motifs in their upper section and classical urns in the bottom part. The original panelled glass in the centre is delicately surrounded by beads on the inner frame. The neoclassical inspiration, obvious in the clean lines, pilasters and urns, combined with the tribute to the Arts make this French Louis XVI trumeau mirror a glorious choice for any living or dining room, perhaps placed atop an enfilade or console table.
