SOLD French Louis XV 1730s Walnut Armoire from Provence with Carved Floral Décor VAB

SOLD A French Louis XV period walnut Provençale armoire from the second quarter of the 18th century, with hand carved floral décor and bow motif. Born in Provence during the early years of the reign of King Louis XV "the Beloved", this French walnut armoire features a bonnet-shaped cornice, sitting above a beautifully hand carved décor depicting a floral décor flanking a central bouquet, topped with a ribbon-tied swag. Two arching doors following the lines of the cornice, are adorned with molded panels and fitted with exquisite hardware. They open to reveal serpentine shelves offering great storage opportunities. The pierced skirt is delicately decorated with floral motifs. The ensemble is raised on four short feet, scrolled in the front and straight in the back. With its lovely hand carved décor, great proportions and patina, this Louis XV walnut armoire circa 1730 will bring a touch of French elegance to any home, particularly in a bedroom or living room.
