SOLD - French 18th Century Painted and Gilt Trumeau Mirror with Carved Scrolled Decor

A French painted and giltwood trumeau mirror from the 18th century with carved pot à feu motif, scrolls and floral decor. This French trumeau mirror features a linear silhouette adorned with exquisite giltwood motifs, perfectly highlighted by the grey green background. The upper section of the mirror is decorated with an abundance of c-scrolls and volutes, leading our eye to the main motif, the pot à feu (think Versailles' architectural décor). This "fire urn" is accented with a swag, while the upper scrolls are connected to one another through arabesques of flowers. The nicely shaped mirror plate shows good signs of aging. With its painted finish, delicate decor and great proportions, this French 18th century mirror will be a focal point in any room, perhaps placed above a fire place, enfilade or chest-of-drawers.
