English 19th Century Oil Dog Painting After Landseer''''s Dignity and Impudence

An English framed oil on canvas dog painting from the 19th century, after Sir Edwin Henry Landseer's 'Dignity and Impudence'. Created in England during the 19th century, this re-painting of Landseer's original titled 'Dignity and Impudence', depicts two dogs, a bloodhound and a West Highland terrier. The dogs are framed by a rustic wooden window (an inspiration due to the Dutch portrait tradition where an arm or a hand would be extending over the edge, while here the bloodhound's paws hang over the edge). Showcasing brown, white and red tones standing out beautifully on a black background, the painting is set inside a carved giltwood frame and is signed lower right. A perfect addition to any wall, hung above a console table, commode or credenza!
