A French Provençale Louis XV period miniature apprentice commode from the early 18th century, with lift top and cabriole legs. Born in Provence during the reign of King Louis XV, this miniature chest was created to demonstrate an apprentice ébéniste's skill. The commode features a serpentine top that lifts up to reveal a small interior lined with red fabric, while the façade presents two faux drawers fitted with Rococo style hardware. Raised on four cabriole legs connected to one another through an apron carved on three sides, this French commode circa 1725 is resting on hoofed feet. A decorative must for any home!
