SOLD - French Louis XV Period 18th Century Walnut Four-Drawer Commode with Star Motif

A French Louis XV period walnut four-drawer serpentine commode from the 18th century, with scalloped skirt and star motif. Born in France during the reign of king Louis XV, this exquisite walnut commode features a rectangular planked top with rounded edges and delicate serpentine front, sitting above four dovetailed drawers (two small ones and two large ones). Each drawer is fitted with iron hardware presenting pierced floral style backplates, motif echoed in the center of each level, inside an oval medallion. The side posts are delicately carved with slender scrolling motifs, while the side panels are carved with recessed panels with molded edges. The commode is adorned with a nicely scalloped skirt on three sides and is resting on four feet, the front ones being scrolled. The hand-carved star of the lower section creates the perfect visual conclusion. With its delicate lines and lovely walnut patina, this 18th century Louis XV commode will bring a touch of French elegance to any home, particularly in a bedroom or living room.
