French Louis XV Period 1740s Commode en Arbalète with Original Painted Finish- AUCTION

A French Louis XV period painted three-drawer 'commode en arbalète' from the first half of the 18th century with its original paint. Born in the middle of the reign of King Louis XV, this exquisite French painted commode features a crossbow shape, typical of the reign of the beloved (as he was known). The commode is surmounted by a rectangular top with serpentine front and rounded edges, sitting above three hand-cut dovetailed drawers. Each drawer is adorned with symmetrically placed cartouches, surrounding the delicate hardware. The beautifully scalloped skirt connects the short scrolled feet to one another. Its curvy design in the front adds to the Rococo feel if this French piece. The commode features its original painted finish.
