A Swedish Gustavian period painted wooden three-drawer chest with original hardware from the 1790s. This petite Swedish three-drawer commode features a black colored rectangular top sitting above a dentil molding, typical of the Gustavian era. Three drawers and simply adorned with a central escutcheon flanked by ring pulls with circular backplates. The side posts however, received a little more attention with their Doric style fluted semi-columns that seem to be emerging from the structure. Creating perfect visual harmony, the fluting is repeated on the short tapered feet. With its light grey color and petite proportions, this Swedish Gustavian commode born in the last decade of the 18th century will accent any room beautifully.
