SOLD - Swedish Gustavian Style Painted Wood Tea Table with Carved Swags, circa 1880

SOLD - This Swedish painted wood Gustavian Style tea table from the late 19th century features a contoured and beveled top over an exquisitely carved apron. Each side is adorned with a delicate swag and ribbon. The fluted knees are raised on four elegant turned tapering legs on cylindrical feet. The light palette used on the table reminds us of the need for the Swedes to surround themselves with brighter colors to try and maximize the light in their homes, due to their shorter days and long, dark winters. Refined yet simple, with elegant carvings on the apron and discreet fluting on the legs this Swedish side table, circa 1880 would make a charming addition to any home.
