SOLD Pair of Early 18th Century French Régence Walnut Armchairs with New Upholstery

SOLD A pair of French Régence period walnut armchairs from the early 18th century, with carved crest, scrolling arms, cabriole legs and new upholstery. Born in France during the transition of power between the Sun King and his heir Louis XV who was still too young to reign, each of this pair of fauteuils features a slanted back, topped with a shell-carved crest. Two open scrolling arms rest on the seat while the ensemble is raised on four cabriole legs connected to one another through an x-form stretcher. Accented with discreet acanthus leaves, the armchairs have been upholstered with a new cotton fabric. With their graceful Régence lines and lovely walnut patina, these French early 18th century armchairs will bring a touch of refinement to any living room or bedroom. Each seat is 32" W x 22" D x 17" H.
