SOLD - A French green glazed pottery confit pot from the 19th century with two handles and unglazed base. Created in France during the 19th century, this confit pot features a green glaze in its upper section sitting above an unfinished base. Traditionally used in Southern France to preserve duck or goose into its own fat and make it into various succulent dishes such as foie gras or confit, the pot was buried in the ground. Its double handles allow it to be moved more easily. With its nice proportions and sought after green glaze, this 19th century French confit pot will bring a touch of tradition and authenticity to any home, particularly used as a jardinière.
